increase variety, focus, and enjoyment into your golf practice

Jonathan Lamb

“Your practice will become an engaging game, leading to a stronger focus and a faster, more noticeable improvement.”

How it Works: roll the dice

  • The Golf Dice features six sides, with each representing a specific task intended to refine particular elements of your game, shot execution, and feel.
  • Simply roll the Golf Dice to determine your next practice challenge. Complete the specific task dictated by the dice roll.
  • A block practice set concludes once you’ve successfully completed all dice challenges.
  • Explore tailored practice routines for: Putting – Short Game – Long Game each guided by the roll of the Golf Dice.
  • The more you play and train with the Golf Dice the more habit forming your practice routine will become.
  •  Develop your practice stamina and train yourself to focus and concentrate in a relaxed state of mind for longer periods of time

Challenge details

EQUIPMENT

  • Putting Edition Golf Dice
  • Your Putter
  • 4 Golf Balls
  • Access to a Putting Green

HOW TO PLAY

  1. Set Up: Choose your challenge spot – flat for consistency or undulating for realism.
  2. Your Goal: Aim for the perfect Par 1 – a single putt!
  3. Roll the Dice: Discover your next specific challenge or distance.
  4. Execute the Challenge:
    • For distance putts (4ft, 8ft, 12ft, 20ft), address the ball from the chosen distance with your 4 balls.
    • For drill putts (Compass or Ladder), follow the unique instructions below.
  5. Track Your Progress: Log your results and strive to beat them next time.

THE CHALLENGES: DIVERSE TESTS FOR EVERY PUTT

Each roll of the Golf Dice presents a focused test:

  • 4ft (Short Putts): Instill confidence in those crucial tap-ins.
  • 8ft (Clutch Putts): Replicate course pressure and sink those vital mid-range putts.
  • 12ft (Mid-Range Putts): Develop precise feel and consistent distance control.
  • 20ft (Long Putts): Master pace control and lag putting for easy two-putts.

SPECIALISED DRILLS

  • Compass Drill: From North, South, East, and West, sink four consecutive 4-foot putts around a single hole. Complete all putts in sequence to complete the challenge. *A miss at any distance sends you back to the start
  • Ladder Drill: Starting at 4ft, progress sequentially through 8ft, 12ft, and 20ft to complete the challenge*

Tired of aimless short game practice? Golf Dice transforms your sessions into focused, fun, and highly effective training for your chipping, pitching, and flop shots. Get ready to develop the touch and control that saves strokes on the course!

EQUIPMENT

  • Short Game Golf Dice
  • Go-To Wedges
  • 8 or 9 Iron (for chipping)
  • Pitching Wedge or Gap Wedge (for mid-flight pitches)
  • Lob Wedge (for high-flighted, soft landings)
  • Access to a short game Practice Area
  • Practice Balls
  • Targets (3-4 Flags, Cones, etc.)

HOW TO PLAY

  1. Set Up: Position 3-4 distinct targets across your practice area, varying distances up to 75 paces.
  2. Roll the Dice: Your Golf Dice dictates the challenge – a Low Chip, Mid Pitch, or High Flop.
  3. Hit Your Shots: For the challenge rolled, hit 3-4 shots towards your targets, alternating your aim each time.
  4. Complete a Set: Continue rolling until you’ve executed successful practice for all three fundamental short game challenges.

THE CHALLENGES: YOUR PATHWAY TO SHORT GAME MASTERY

Each roll focuses on a critical shot, refining your technique and feel:

Low-Trajectory Chip (8 or 9 Iron)

  • The Shot: A controlled, low-flying chip designed to run out towards the hole. Perfect for getting the ball on the green quickly.
  • Key: Light grip pressure for a sensitive touch.

Mid-Trajectory Pitch (Pitching or Gap Wedge)

  • The Shot: A standard pitch with a balanced flight and reliable stop. Your go-to for many short game situations.
  • Key: Very light grip pressure for ultimate feel and control.

High-Trajectory Flop (Lofted Wedge)

  • The Shot: A high-arching shot that lands softly with minimal roll. Essential for carrying hazards or tricky lies.
  • Key: Light grip pressure to maintain the clubface open and maximize loft.

Ready to take control of your ball flight and improve your course management? The Long Game Dice is the perfect tool for experienced golfers looking to master shot shaping and trajectory control.

EQUIPMENT

  • Long Game Golf Dice
  • Select a Mid or Long Iron (e.g., 6 Iron or 4 Iron)
  • Access to a Driving Range or Practice Ground
  • Practice Balls
  • Clear Targets to Aim Towards

HOW TO PLAY

  1. Select Your Iron: Choose your preferred Mid or Long Iron.
  2. Roll the Dice: Discover your Long Game challenge (Draw, Fade, High, Low, 3/4 Swing, or 1/2 Swing).
  3. Execute Shots: For each challenge rolled, hit four shots. Your focus is on successfully executing the required shot shape or trajectory towards your target.
  4. Maintain Concentration: Stay focused on the task for each shot.

COMPLETING A BLOCK PRACTICE SESSION

Your practice session is complete only when you have successfully executed the required shots for each of the six challenges presented by the dice. Work through every outcome on the die.

The Six Shot Mastery Challenges

The dice will challenge you to control your ball flight in different ways. Commit to each shot and visualize it flying towards your target!

  • Draw: Practice hitting a shot that curves gently from right-to-left. (Left-handed golfers: Practice a gentle Fade).
  • Fade: Practice hitting a shot that curves gently from left-to-right. (Left-handed golfers: Practice a gentle Draw).
  • High: Focus on hitting a shot with a significantly higher trajectory than your standard ball flight for that club.
  • Low: Focus on hitting a shot with a lower, more penetrating trajectory, designed to stay under the wind or run out.
  • 3/4 Swing: Practice hitting shots using a controlled, three-quarter backswing and follow-through. Focus on accuracy and consistent distance control, not maximum power.
  • 1/2 Swing: Practice hitting shots using a shorter, half-swing. This is ideal for controlled lay-ups, punch shots, or getting out of trouble.

WHY PRACTICE YOUR LONG GAME WITH THE DICE ?

  • Enhanced Shot Control: Develops mastery over ball flight, trajectory, and shaping, crucial for navigating the course.
  • Improved Feel & Rhythm: Practicing with different swing lengths refines your tempo, control, and touch.
  • Varied Skill Application: Moves beyond simple repetition to simulate diverse, realistic on-course shot requirements.
  • Simulates Pressure: Adds realistic challenges and helps you develop crucial shot-making skills under a practice environment.
  • Engaging & Focused: Turns repetitive drills into targeted, skill-building games that keep you engaged.

With a “Game Dice,” get ready for one of six dynamic challenges designed to make practice fun and effective! Complete the game’s objective to fulfill the dice roll requirement.

  3. Par 18
  4. Leap Frog
  5. Ladder
  6. Triple Chips

HOW TO PLAY

1. Scatter Ball:

Try to ‘Hole’ one of 4 randomly scattered balls. Repeat the set until you hole one. Option: Chip from the green perimeter or further back instead of putting.

2. Pocket Money:

Chip or putt 4 balls from 12–20 ft. Track score vs. virtual money (£1 start): Hole Out = Double yer Money; Within 1 ft = +10 p; Outside 1 ft = -10 p.

3. Par 18:

Play 9 random mini-holes (Par 2 each) using 1 ball & club + putter. Pitch or Chip from marker, putt out every scramble shot. Track total strokes for 9 holes. Pro Tip – Play once daily and aim to beat your previous score. Stimulates Pressure!

4. Leap Frog:

Using 4 balls from 12–20 ft, chip/putt each ball just past the previous one in sequence past a marker. Focus on distance control.

5. Ladder:

Putt 4 balls in sequence from increasing distances (e.g., 4, 8, 12, 16 ft). If you miss any then go back to the start from (4 ft). You complete the drill when all 4 balls are holed in sequence without a miss
Pro Tip: Adapt the drill for chipping from off the green.

6. Triple Chips:

Chip 3 balls from off the green using your 3 different irons, one at a time to the same hole. Continue to ‘Hole Out’ with before returning to strike the second ball, then third ball in sequence. Remember to alternate your club selection with each ball*
